Once again it’s that time of year which makes me most home sick. One of my elder cousin once long long back told me that “you feels home sick when you are feeling weak, may be physically or mentally”, but hey I really feel home sick most of the times. Does that means am always physically or mentally weak!!! Duh chuck it; let’s come back to the initial topic. It’s Holi and I am missing home as usual, but more so this year. I dono y but I am. Its not that I wont be enjoying Holi here wid my friends, but the joyous feeling of being wid family on festivals cant be expressed in words, more so for guys who have been away from home for as long as they can remember. And u know what, the biggest irony is: if I was at home I would have really missed being here wid friends. That’s life for u guys. As some one said “The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence”.
I can’t even remember when last I was at home during Holi. But yeah still if I close my eyes I can feel myself standing outside the main gate of my house in fully torn cloths, asking mom for yet another pair of cloths, because there were still a couple of friends whom I had to visit. There are those wonderful memories of Holi. The 1st and foremost is the yummy food that would be prepared. Every one in the family will be together. Joint families are really big u know. Those “tolis” of guys playing Holi and the music and masti associated with it. And yeah we all children standing on terrace wid balloons filled wid colours, just waiting for any1 to pass. And “facchhak “a series of balloons hurled towards him/her.
This was only the 1st round of Holi. In the evening we will wear New “Kurta Pajama”, and visit all the relatives and friends. And every house we went to we got to eat “Dahi Bada” and some sweets and used to get “Thandai” to drink. Thandai widout “ Bhaang” as we were kids( supposedly). And then at last but not the lest there used to a “ Haasya Kawi sammelan” (Poets Summit). It was grand celebration time for us. We got to stay awake till late in the nite. And yeah also the sammelan was good. It was really funny wid some best names in the industry coming on the dice together.
I dono when will I get to relive these astonishing moments again. But I just wish I get it soon, before I loose my boyish character all together to give way to all manly characters of near zero emotion. And yeah I wish every1 a very happy and prosperous and colourful Holi. Holi Haiiiii.
